Revize Micro Gel 0.025% is a novel formulation containing 0.025% tretinoin for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris. Acne is a condition characterised by whiteheads, blackheads, and inflammatory lesions like papules and pustules. It is especially effective for individuals with mild to moderate acne and who require mild anti-ageing support. Tretinoin, a vitamin A derivative, is widely known as one of the most effective topical agents for acne and skin rejuvenation. Tretinoin is highly effective in treating almost all types of pimples; it opens blocked pores by preventing the accumulation of dead skin cells, thereby minimising the formation of blackheads, whiteheads, and other pimples.

In addition, the gel formulation promotes rapid shedding of old skin cells and replaces them with newer ones. Moreover, tretinoin enhances collagen production, helping reduce the early signs of ageing, such as fine lines, mild wrinkles, dullness, and a rough texture. Regular use can help improve skin texture, minimise the appearance of pores, and provide a radiant complexion. This micro formulation uses microsphere technology to ensure controlled release of the active ingredient (tretinoin) into the skin. This helps minimise irritation while maintaining its effectiveness, making it suitable for those new to tretinoin formulations or with sensitive skin.

How to use ?

Revize Micro Gel 0.025% should be used exactly as instructed by the dermatologist. It is usually applied once daily at night to clean, dry skin. In general, a pea-sized amount is enough to cover the entire affected skin area. Here, it is important to note that using more will not increase the medication's effectiveness but may cause irritation. The formulation should not be applied to cuts, broken, irritated or eczema-prone skin.

Proper use of Revize Micro Gel 0.025% includes the following steps:

  • Cleanse with a mild, non-medicated soap and dry skin gently.
  • Wait for about 15 to 20 minutes before applying the gel to avoid irritation.
  • Squeeze out a small amount of product and apply it in a thin layer, spreading it evenly over the affected area.
  • Use a comedogenic moisturiser afterwards to reduce irritation and skin peeling.
  • Always use sunscreen during the day, as tretinoin may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight.

Precautions (warning, allergy, things to remember)

Revize Micro Gel 0.025% is not for daytime use because tretinoin increases sun sensitivity; it should be applied at night. Do not use harsh skincare products, such as exfoliants, astringents, or strong cleansers, unless advised to do so. Expect initial purging during the start of the treatment. This is usually a temporary breakout or skin peeling that occurs in the initial weeks and typically resolves on its own.

A tretinoin formulation should be avoided during pregnancy or while breastfeeding unless your healthcare specialist prescribes it. Use other acne medications only on your dermatologist’s advice and follow the provided instructions carefully to achieve optimal results. The topical medicine you used previously might have caused redness or peeling. Avoid exposure to sunlight as much as possible while using this tretinoin formulation. Also, avoid using artificial sources like sunlamps and tanning booths. If you have sunburn, do not use Revize micro gel until you are fully recovered. Avoid cold weather and wind as much as possible, and use protective clothing, as treated skin may dry out or be more prone to windburn. Also, avoid excessive facial washing or scrubbing. Prefer using a mild, non-medicated soap to wash your skin gently and pat dry. The safety and effectiveness of the tretinoin formulation in children under 12 years of age have not been established.

 Side effects

Like most retinoid formulations, mild and temporary side effects are common. Itching, peeling, burning, stinging, and redness may occur in some cases during the first one or two weeks of topical treatment. These adverse reactions can be easily minimised by carefully following the dermatologist’s instructions. If the side effects become excessively troublesome, discontinue treatment and consult your dermatologist. There are no side effects. If you experience any unexpected side effects while using Revize gel, contact your dermatologist.
