Candid Cream 1% is a trusted, dermatologist-recommended antifungal cream formulated with Clotrimazole 1%, a broad-spectrum antifungal medicine used to treat common fungal skin infections. It works by affecting the fungal cell membrane, thereby stopping the growth and spread of fungi responsible for ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch, diaper rash–related fungal infections, fungal sweat-rash, and yeast infections. It is also effective in relieving irritation of the vulva (external thrush) or the end of the penis, which may be related to thrush. Known for its fast action, soothing texture, and deep penetration, Candid cream is widely used for both acute flare-ups and long-term fungal control. Its gentle formulation makes it suitable for adults and adolescents when used as directed. The topical formulation targets the root cause, not just the symptoms, and helps prevent reinfection with regular use.
How to use Candid Cream 1% ?
For antifungal treatment to be fully effective, Candid cream should be applied regularly and in sufficient amounts. Clean and thoroughly dry the affected area. Apply a thin layer of cream and gently massage it into the affected and surrounding skin areas twice daily, in the morning and evening. Wash your hands after application to avoid spreading the infection. Keep treated areas clean, dry, and sweat-free to prevent reinfection. Clinical improvement usually occurs within the first week of treatment. Continue applying for at least 2 weeks, even if symptoms improve. If symptoms persist beyond 2 weeks, consult a dermatologist. For stubborn infections, treatment may extend to 4 weeks. If no clinical improvement occurs after four weeks of treatment with Candid cream, the diagnosis should be reviewed. Avoid contact with the eyes and mouth. Do not apply to broken or oozing skin. By reducing redness, itching, burning & scaling, visible improvement within 3–5 days (depending on infection severity).
What safety and precautionary measures should be taken?
Candid cream 1% is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or to any other inactive ingredients in the medicine. The treatment should be discontinued in the event of skin sensitisation, and appropriate therapy should be initiated. The topical formulation is not suitable for treating fungal infections of the nail and scalp. Occlusive dressing should not be applied over the cream unless instructed by the dermatologist. People with chronic skin conditions should be advised to use steroid therapy unless advised. Those with severe skin irritation after application should not use Candid cream. Topical clotrimazole should not be used in the first trimester or if you are trying to become pregnant unless the dermatologist considers it essential for the patient. Topical clotrimazole is not recommended unless a healthcare professional advises it. Breastfeeding should be discontinued during antifungal treatment. Those with severe skin irritation after application should avoid using clotrimazole. Inform your dermatologist if you have been using any other medicines, including those you obtained with a prescription. Clotrimazole may reduce the effectiveness of some contraceptive methods, such as condoms, diaphragms, or vaginal spermicides.
