Acnedap Gel 5% is a dermatologist-recommended topical treatment formulated with Dapsone 5%, an effective anti-inflammatory and antibacterial ingredient widely used to manage mild to moderate acne. This fast-absorbing gel helps target red, painful, and inflamed pimples while reducing swelling and preventing future breakouts. It is especially helpful for adults and teens struggling with persistent inflammatory acne. Designed for daily use and suitable for sensitive, combination, and acne-prone skin types, Acnedap Gel 5% provides gentle yet reliable acne control without the harshness associated with stronger active ingredients. Acnedap Gel contains Dapsone, a sulfone medication known for its dual action:

  • Anti-inflammatory properties that calm redness and swelling
  • Antibacterial action that reduces acne-causing bacteria on the skin

Unlike strong exfoliating or peeling agents, Dapsone, the active ingredient in the medicine, works more subtly, making it a great option for individuals who experience irritation with retinoids or benzoyl peroxide. Its lightweight gel formulation spreads easily and absorbs quickly, leaving no sticky residue, making it suitable for both morning and evening use.

How to use Acnedap Gel 5%

Use once or twice a day, as recommended by the dermatologist. Wash your face and pat the skin fully dry. Apply a thin layer to the affected areas. Allow the gel to absorb completely before applying moisturiser or sunscreen. If combining with other acne medications, introduce products slowly to avoid irritation and do so under your healthcare provider's medical guidance. Wash your hands after applying the gel. If your acne doesn’t improve after using Acnedap gel for twelve weeks, speak to your dermatologist about continuing the treatment. Acne may worsen before it improves; however, with proper use, your skin will clear up. The earlier you begin using it, the less likely you are to get scars. It may take several weeks before you notice improvement in your symptoms, so you must keep using the topical medication even if it appears not to be working. Visible improvements may appear within 4–8 weeks, with optimal results seen after 12 weeks of consistent use.

Precautions of Acnedap Gel 5%

Before using Acnedap gel, let your dermatologist know about all medical conditions, including whether you have glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD) or have excessively high methemoglobin levels in your bloodstream. Mild dryness, or irritation may occur during the first few weeks. Do not apply to broken, sunburned, or excessively dry skin. Avoid combining with benzoyl peroxide, as the mixture may cause temporary yellow or orange discolouration. It is not recommended for individuals with G6PD deficiency unless cleared by a doctor. Consult a healthcare professional before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Also, tell your dermatologist about all the medicines you take, including prescription, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Especially, inform your dermatologist if you are using any anti-acne medication containing benzoyl peroxide. Using benzoyl peroxide with dapsone gel at the same time may cause your skin or facial hair to turn yellow at the application site.

What are the possible side effects Acnedap Gel 5%?

Some common side effects include peeling, dryness, oiliness, and redness of the treated skin.  These are not all the possible side effects of Acnedap gel. Talk to your dermatologist for medical advice about side effects. Avoid getting the medication into the eyes, nostrils or mouth. In case of accidental exposure, rinse your eyes straight away with water and seek immediate medical help.

  1. How do I apply Acnedap Gel 5%?

Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily, as instructed by your dermatologist. Clean and dry your skin before applying. Make sure it absorbs fully before layering other skincare products.

Mild dryness, redness, or skin irritation may occur during early use. These effects are typically temporary. If irritation persists or becomes severe, reduce frequency or speak with your dermatologist.

  1. Can I use Acnedap Gel 5% with other acne products?

It can generally be combined with moisturisers and non-irritating skincare. However, pairing it with benzoyl peroxide may cause temporary yellow/orange skin discolouration. Always introduce combinations slowly and follow medical guidance.
