Kenacort 0.1% Oral Paste – Triamcinolone for Mouth Ulcers Relief
Kenacort 0.1% Oromucosal Paste contains Triamcinolone Acetonide, a medium-potency corticosteroid formulated specially for use inside the mouth. Dentists and dermatologists widely prescribe it for treating painful mouth ulcers, oral inflammation, stomatitis, and lesions associated with oral lichen planus. Stomatitis and oral lichen planus may be present on mucosal surfaces including the tongue, gingival and lips. The oral conditions require topical corticosteroid medication such as Triamcinolone, which allows the medicine to adhere to the inner lining of the mouth, ensuring long-lasting local therapeutic action exactly where it is needed. Triamcinolone Acetonide is a synthetic corticosteroid that works by:
- Suppressing inflammation
- Reducing swelling and redness
- Preventing exaggerated immune response
- Providing a protective film in the affected area
Thus, reduces swelling, irritation & burning sensation and helps heal lesions caused by trauma or infection. When applied, the paste adheres to the mucous membrane and continuously releases the medicine, providing extended relief. Unlike oral tablets, Kenacort acts locally, minimising systemic absorption. If you struggle with recurring painful ulcers, burning sensation, or mouth lesions, Kenacort 0.1% can support quick recovery with minimal discomfort when used under the medical guidance.
How to Apply Kenacort 0.1%
Trusted by dentists worldwide, this triamcinolone paste is easy to apply to the inside of the cheeks, gums, tongue & lips. Always use it as directed by your doctor or dentist. Wash your hands and gently dry the affected area. Take a small amount of paste (about 6mm) and dab it on the lesion until a thin film develops. A larger quantity of dental paste may be needed to cover some lesions. For best results, use only an adequate amount to coat the lesions with a thin film without rubbing. Use preferably at bedtime. Depending on the severity of symptoms, the formulation may need to be applied 2–3 times daily, preferably after meals, to permit steroid contact with the lesion throughout the night. Avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 minutes after application to avoid accidental ingestion of the medicine.
What safety & precautionary measures are to be taken Kenacort 0.1%?
Kenacort .1% is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Triamcinolone or any of its inactive ingredients. Patients with peptic ulcer, diabetes, and tuberculosis should not be treated with any corticosteroid medication without the guidance of a dermatologist. It should be noted that the normal defence response of the oral tissues is depressed in patients receiving corticosteroid treatment/virulence of oral organisms may multiply without giving any indication of oral infections. If local irritation or sensitisation occurs, the formulation should be discontinued, and appropriate treatment should be initiated by the dermatologist. If there is no improvement after a week, additional determination of the lesion type is advised. Long-term use may rarely cause thinning of the oral mucosa, so treatment cycles should be short and monitored by a clinician. Avoid in viral/fungal infections unless supervised. Do not apply the oral paste to open bleeding wounds. Also, avoid swallowing paste unnecessarily. It is not recommended for children without medical guidance. Safe use of Kenacort paste during pregnancy has not been established due to possible side effects on fetal development. Therefore, it should not be used by pregnant women unless, in the dentist's judgment, the potential benefits outweigh the risks.
What are the possible side effects of Kenacort .1%?
Prolonged use may increase the risk of adverse reactions. Therefore, for the medication to be effective, it is important to use it under the strict guidance of a dentist.
