Pantostin is formulated to treat hereditary hair loss. It is composed of the active component Alfatradiol, a hormonal drug, which is a modification of the female sex hormone estradiol. The product is available for topical use only. When the solution is applied to your scalp, it can cause a mild burning sensation initially due to high alcohol content. After that, this scalp tonic allows you to tackle the main cause of hair loss directly. The hair solution works for both men and women. Note that the re-growth of hair that had already lost is only possible to a limited extent.
Mode of action of Pantostin
The active ingredient Alfatradiol is used to balance an estrogen deficiency in the scalp. The presence of estradiol (female sex hormone) acts like a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor. This inhibits the action of excessive male sex hormone and reduces the formation of dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This is important because the immoderate amount of DHT is one of the main causes of hereditary hair loss.
Alfatradiol is a successful topical solution because of its relatively fast onset of action. After a continuous use for approximately twelve weeks, the product has been clinically shown to noticeably increase the hair growth and reduce hair loss. It must be applied for a longer duration to reduce hair loss. Once it is stopped, previously recovered hair will be lost again. Therefore, it should be used continuously for the rest of life.
Pantostin should be applied once daily to the affected scalp area. Make sure that the solution reached your scalp. Wait for one minute to let the solution absorbed by your skin. Once the symptoms of hair loss improved, you may reduce the application to every alternative day or twice a week.
Pantostin is well tolerated. However, it may cause some mild adverse reactions such as:
- Skin rash
- Burning sensation of the skin
Consult a dermatologist in case any of these troubles you.
